We’ll be running the Summer Evening Farmers Market again in 2022 on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6pm
The Summer Evening Farmers Market was due to take place on the 2nd Thursday of May, June, July, August and September (September date to be confirmed). However, we have advised Danson House that we will not be offering the farmers market on the July and August dates .
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM M FARMERS MARKET REGARDING THE SUMMER EVENING FARMERS MARKET AT DANSON HOUSE
After much thought over the last few weeks Sandra and Brian (Directors at M Farmers Market) have sadly come to the conclusion that it is impossible for us to run the Summer Evening Farmers Market at Danson House in July or August 2022
As you know we run our farmers markets to a nationally accredited standard – this included the farmers market held at Danson House.
The main reasons behind our decision are:
the additional number of markets and other evening events being run at the same venue has caused a lot of confusion to members of the general public and stallholders.
of concern to us is that the markets are being run to different standards and criteria. Our national farmers market accreditation to very important to us so seasonality, traceability, food miles and many more things are key.
As M Farmers Market are the UK representative for Farmers Market on a National body it is important that our accredited farmers markets are NOT confused with other things happening on the same site.
We also took the view that in the current economic situation stallholders like customers are having to watch their outgoing with increased costs for ingredients and rising fuel costs. We personally took the view that the number of markets and events on the same site was diluting the stallholder takings and we didn’t want stallholders to be out of pocket if there was a risk of wastage of items not being sold at the market.
We continue to offer our other accredited farmers markets at the following locations:
Hall Place Bexley – 1st Sunday of the month 10 – 2
Lenham Country Market – 2nd Sunday of the month 9 – 1
Hall Place Saturday – 3rd Saturday of the month 10 – 2
Chislehurst – 3rd Sunday of the month 10 – 2
West Malling – 4th Sunday of the month – 9.30 – 1.30
Obviously we are disappointed to have to stop offering the Summer Evening Farmers Market at Danson House especially as this was something that we had wanted to trial for a number of years. We really felt when we looked at the venue in late 2019 as a possible location that all was going to be fine, however with lockdowns, more markets opening in the area, peoples working habits changing plus the current financial climate we needed to make this difficult decision
We’d like to thank everyone for their support over the last year at Danson House and look forward to seeing you at our other Accredited Farmers Markets.
